Natural Products for Baby and Mommy

Natural Products for Baby and Mommy
I love used baby products but many things you just need to purchase new. Here are my favorite "perishable and personal" items.

AROMATHERAPY
To help calm my firstborn, who was not a good sleeper until 10 months old, I relied on herbs and spritzes to gently fragrance the air and promote relaxation. For all natural organic products I go to Bear Creek Herbals. They are local to me but have a webpage with products for adults and children. We use the Cuddle Buddy tucked in the breathable liner of the crib or warmed as a tummy pack for belly aches. I also really like the Lavender Spritz for the linens. It's not too potent and calming for my little man. During our hot summers we use the "No More Bites" Spray and "Shoo Fly" to keep the bugs at bay without harsh chemicals. Repels without making us stink. For pregnancy headaches that Tylenol never touches I use "Headache Tamer". Just spray on my shirt or hair and relax. All the orders are custom made and ship anywhere in the country.

Young Living Essential Oils. These are high quality oils that can be diffused, inhaled, applied topically, and some can be ingested. If you're interested in learning more please contact me directly or visit my site to join our family of oilers.

COLDS/FLU
Elderberry syrup is an awesome immune booster for icky respiratory viruses. (Remember, antibiotics will do nothing to help a cold or flu.) It has a sweet taste that will please kiddie palates. There are many formulas available in health food stores, farmer's markets, and online, or you can make your own, like Katie at WellnessMama.

DIAPER RASH
Desitin is too strong for my son's sensitive skin so we use Earth Mama Angel Baby's Baby Bottom Balm, and Anti-Monkey Butt Powder (Which comes in regular, Lady, and Baby). My husband loves the Anti-Monkey Butt Powder too. My sister loyally uses Boudreaux's Butt Paste (the regular, not all natural).

FIRST AID
For ALL your family boo boos I highly recommend Earth Mama Angel Baby's Baby Bottom Balm. (There is a Mama Bottom Balm for prenatal hemorrhoids, post coital inflammation, postpartum episiotomy and many other perineal irritations). From scrapes to red bottoms, episiotomies to hives it heals ALL. Forget all the other pastes and creams for the slightest redness this soothes within 24 hours. If you do suspect diaper rash, I've got a great recipe for antibacterial-antifungal yet gentle on sensitive skin balm too. See my post here for the recipe.

HICCUPS/TUMMY ACHES
We love Gripe Water (Been using Mommy's Bliss and I only give him 1-3 ml instead of the recommended 5 and it cures his hiccups). We use it for upset tummies, gas, and fussiness. I recently found this recipe and plan to make some soon.  Have had tea very similar just not sure how well babies take to it. Homemade Gripe Iced Tea « Holistic Familia Blog. We also use Hyland's Colic tablets to ease stomach discomfort.

TEETHING
Hylands teething tablets are no longer available for purchase

NURSING PADS
Although there are many options I prefer Nuk over Lansinoh or Johnson & Johnson for nursing pads.  Reason being, it's all cotton with no adhesive or paper like covering AND they're cheaper.  No disposable pad conforms to the breast and stays flat, especially if you're breastfeeding constantly, but they do work to keep your clothes dry.
